How You As Woman in Business Can Get Yourself a Mentor?
By Adi Nezer
When you inquire every person in the world who became successful, you will find out he/she learned from someone who achieved the level of success they wanted to achieve.
In other words, they had a mentor.
A mentor is someone who has been through the challenges and the obstacles on the way to achieving success. Therefore, a mentor will be able to tell you what to do, what is dangerous to do, and not less importantly, when it's the right time to do an action.
You see, if you try to achieve success through trial and error, you will get there, but there are two questions to ask are:
How much time will it cost you?
How much energy will it cost you?
Imagine someone covers your eyes, sits you in a chair and gives you a Hungarian cube. If you started to move the different parts of the cube randomly, you would eventually get to a point where all the pieces will sit in the right place.
But I would probably need to let you go to the bathroom once in a while, because it will take a lot of time to finish it.
How much time?
Scientists say it might take six billion years.
Now let's change the experiment a little bit.
This time, I still sit you in a chair and cover your eyes, and give you the Hungarian cube. This time, there will be a person with you that knows the Hungarian cube well.
He/she won't tell you what to do. The only thing he/she will say is "yes" or "no".
Every time you move any part of the Hungarian cube, you will hear one of these words.
Will it make short the time you need to arrange the cube? Sure.
This time, it won't take six billion years to finish it, and not even billion years.
How much time do you think it will take you to arrange all the colors?
The answer is: two minutes.
That is, my friends, the power of having a mentor.
Can you imagine being guided by someone who has been through the difficulties, and can recognize solutions in a second?
We all could use a mentor. The great news is everyone, no matter how successful they are, can find a mentor and get the guidance that will shorten your learning curve, the tons of energy and time it will take you to figure out how to achieve the success you deserve.
You might think that no successful person would like to help you. Let me surprise you: successful people LOVE to help. But there is a way to ask for the help.
Here's how you, as women entrepreneurs can get yourself a mentor:
1. Choose the area you want to improve in your life.
2. Call the person and say this "Hi Mr/Mrs, I appreciate you so much for the achievements you created in your life. It would be a great honor for me to learn from you. I am well aware of the fact you are busy, so it will be my pleasure to invite you for lunch or a for cup of coffee for 10 minutes."
3. After the meeting or talk over the phone comes the critical part: ANY advice this successful person gives you, ACT on it.
4. Then call him/her again (if you didn't schedule another meeting), and update about the action you took and the results you got.
Many successful people love to help, but most of them are used to people asking for help and doing nothing after that.
What impresses them is when they give you advice and you act on it.
So now go, choose your mentor, and shorten your way to success!
